With the shop being busier than ever and onsite catering bookings continuing to grow I'm finding myself busier and busier on the cooking side of things....

Almost getting to the stage where I'm considering adding another smoker to run alongside Marge to cope with the demand for cook space!

I reckon I need it...It's been a busy few weeks..

Recruiting new team members - Welcome Joel and Kirsty!
Corporate catering jobs increasing
Plus "opportunities to improve" with our app and deliveries.

We do have some plans!
*Opening Hours - In May we aim to be opening on Wednesdays
*Weekly Specials. - We will reintroduce "specials" with a slight tweak, they'll be available on Wednesday & Thursday as our "Midweek Treat" (or similar)
*Cake or Shake - Will be staying, but moving to Sundays only

We are also toying with opening an hour later on a Friday & Saturday, although I'm not sure we've 100% finalised that just yet...

The main aim of these plans is to TRY and smooth out the peak in demand on a Friday & Saturday night.. It'll probably have zero impact lol, but we have to try something.

We are also having to go "collection only" on our app again, the guys who support our app are trying really hard to recruit delivery drivers - if you're interested then please drop them a Whatsapp message on 07498 367829 or just send us a message and we'll pass your details on.

Appears we have a few "gremlins" in the computer servers and as such accessing the Fat Pig BBQ and Web ordering isn't currently possible..

The guys are working on it and I'm sure it'll be all sorted soon...

In the meantime, we're open from 4pm and you can call us on 01246 229543 (assuming the gremlins have left the phone systems alone.....)

I knew Mrs Fat Pig shouldn't have had that snack at 1am this morning....

And no, not tied to the smoker or bbq - although its felt a bit like it today!

Food Delivery Apps:
If you order your food from us, but through the likes of Just Eat, Deliveroo etc etc then we are very restricted in what we can do when it comes to resolving any issues with, for example, the delivery/app side of things.

a) We don't have your delivery address
b) We don't have your payment details
c) We can't issue refunds
d) We can't simply remake orders
e) We can't request another delivery driver

etc etc - I'm sure you get the drift, our hands are tied, you are a customer of Just Eat, Deliveroo etc and as such you need to contact them with regards to any issues/dissatisfaction you have with their service.

I get that you will be frustrated when the Just Eat app incorrectly says your food has been delivered, but shouting and swearing at us (and then leaving a 1 star review) wont magically mean we get access to Just eats computer system to sort the issue out... For most things you need to contact the platform you've used.

It's certainly not that we don't want to help, as we were accused last night, we simply don't have capability/access to sort anything other than making the food.

The delivery apps insist any issues/complaints/refund requests etc go through them so they can carefully monitor how the app/takeaway/delivery driver etc is performing.

Apologies for the long post, its just frustrating to get shouted/swore at/negative reviews over things you have no control over... The delivery platforms punish us if we get negative reviews... you couldn't make it up

We thought we'd grab a bottle of a new sauce by @angusandoink called Hog Heaven, just to try out... We added a few more bottles on our next order, it's delicious and goes REALLY well with our pulled pork, so we've added it to our menu.

You can buy a 2oz pot of it and its also as an option on our Pulled Pork Sandwich and Pig Butts Burger so you can swap out our BBQ sauce for this Hog Heaven (Carolina Mustard BBQ Sauce)

We only have a limited supply so its available on the Fat Pig BBQ apps and for telephone/in store orders to start with.

We've also added Franks RedHot Spicy Mayo to our sauces list...

What a glorious day... the sun is shining, the birds are tweeting, and we are smoking briskets!!

It's such a nice day that I reckon you'll all want to nip out and collect your food orders wont ya??!?

I hope so because we've had to revert to "Collection Only" on our app again!

Apologies to anyone inconvenienced but our current driver situation for our own app simply wasn't working well on our busier nights. We've plans in place to make the situation better, but in the meantime we've had to suspend the delivery service.

We also have a wee issue with regards to the Fat Pig BBQ app being available to download from the relevant App Stores, this also is being sorted..

The app works perfectly fine for those who already have it on their devices, new users however cannot download it just yet and as an alternative we'd like to direct you to our "web ordering" facility :)

Sandwiched between layers of crunchy peanut butter and red chilli jam topped with smoked bacon, American cheese and beer battered onion ring - WOW!!

We never set out to "do burgers"... I never really wanted to be a "burger and fries" kinda place

We introduced one onto the menu back when we were operating out of an older catering trailer on our driveway and... well, it just went from there!

Now we source the very best aged beef mince to hand form our smash burger balls along with the fabulous burger buns from the guys over at Loaf Bakery in Crich

I'd apologise and say that I'll stop the poor jokes.... but that aint gonna happen lol.

We're open till 9pm tonight and if last night is anything to go by then we're in for a pretty busy one.. so, at the risk of sounding like a stuck record.... get those orders in early!

It's been a busy prep day ahead of a busy weekend in the shop..

Over 50kg of chicken thighs seasoned with our "Feather Duster" seasoning
A heady blend of the best quality Paprika, Orange, Lemon and Chipotle, it's sweet with a gentle warmth and delicious on all the feathered friends.

We then chargrill them over a mix of charcoal and seasoned oak logs, truly delicious and rightly a very popular menu item..

Our Pitmaster Beans start with fried onions and garlic combined with haricot beans, plenty of BBQ seasoning, our delicious BBQ sauce and in this batch we added heaps of chopped smoked pork rib meat..

They're currently being finished on the smoker for a couple of hours, letting the flavours develop and the sauce thicken....almost a meal in themselves!

We love food, we hope that comes through..

We're likely heading for another busy weekend in the shop, I'd advise getting those orders in early (the last few weekends we've had to pause taking orders from around 7pm)

I'm off to check the smoker, stir the beans and have a little taste test... tough job eh!

"Sweet Baby Cheesus" was almost called "Cheesus Loves You" - not sure which I prefer.. Proved popular last night.. a very busy shift lol

The Dirty Cheese Sauce made in house has a nice glowing warmth from the Chipotle chillies in Adobo sauce that are part of the recipe. It's not "hot" but just spicy enough so you know its there.. and works very well on our "Sweet Baby Cheesus" loaded fries..

It's the last night for Dirty Dogs and its also Cake or Shake night so you've plenty of choice for your Sunday evening treat.

Theres no special next week, sorry.... between interviews for new team members, outdoor catering events and the shop being extra busy we've decided to just go with the standard menu for the next couple of weeks (it's not like its small lol)

In the meantime this lovely sticky chocolate orange number joins our menu for a trial period... Alas I'm yet to taste test, but it does look delicious!

Last weekend for our loaded hotdogs. They've been selling well and the temptation is to shoehorn them onto the main menu, but perhaps their fleeting visits are the reason why they're popular when they make an appearance... so it's their last weekend for a wee while so grab them while you can

Wow... another record breaking evening, the team worked their socks off..

However, we did have to stop taking orders quite early and we did have a few customers and delivery drivers waiting a bit longer than is ideal..We apologise for that.

Being busy is a nice headache to have, but we really want everyone to have a fab experience when they order food from us and if that means taking less orders per night then thats exactly what we'll do, it's not all about money.

We are exploring the option of opening till 10pm on a Friday & Saturday evening in the hope that we can spread the orders out a little and reduce the pressure on both the kitchen and the delivery drivers.

The best way to ensure you get your order at a specific time is to call us on 01246 229543 and collect your food

If you do need a delivery then use the Fat Pig BBQ app, but please get your orders in as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
